Artist Statement
As an artist and educator my goal is to encourage creativity in all its forms while creating works of art that stimulate introspection through beauty.
For years while creating art, I have searched and wondered what my voice as an artist would become. I believe that now more than ever, the role of the artist is elemental in our progression as a global community. We share a common experience that is providing us the opportunity to change for the better. I believe that we can be stronger as a united people than we have ever been if we consider how to work with equanimity. I seek to strike a chord of familiarity in those who view my work in hopes of elevating their sense of value in community .
With over 25 years of combined experience as a sculptor working in metal, wood, and a classical apprenticeship carving stone in Serravezza, Italy, my limitations are few. In 2008 I began a journey of studying and creating with aerosol paints due to the impact that I found street art to have on me. That exploration has forever changed my thinking about how art is to be experienced and how I instruct my students.
The time for change is now and my hope is that art will, as it has in centuries past, lead the way to a better future for us all.
